Chalk Lettered Wedding Signs

These are so much fun, I’m going to have to make more. I got the silver trays for $7 and the wine glasses for $1 at the thrift store. After a thorough cleaning, I taped the spots I didn’t want paint on.

I used Rustoleum chalkboard paint, but there are spray paints, self-stick papers and tapes you can use. For the glasses, I dipped them directly into the can.

???????????????????????????????

And let them drip dry on a box. The directions say it’ll be dry in 30 minutes, but you have to wait 3 days before you can draw on them. I had to touch up a couple drop spots from where they were dripping, but I only needed one coat.

I taped one of the trays, but had to freehand the other because of the curves. On the trays, I used a paintbrush.

After the 3 days drying, I used some pictures for inspiration and a chalk marker to customize them.

  1. Wow! These look awesome! I bet they would cost a lot also, if you could even buy them. You did a great job. Love the dipped stems on the wine glasses, what a cool idea! I just love the chalkboard look, it makes it upscale but homey, sophisticated but friendly.

  2. Plus it is so trendy to re purpose and reduce our carbon footprint by up cycling. So earth friendly!

  3. […] I made more of these using the same supplies and process as these https://accordingtoleanne.com/2014/01/21/chalk-lettered-wedding-signs/ […]

  4. Wow, those look great! I love this idea. Next time I’m out thrifting, maybe I’ll pick up some of those abandoned silver trays… 🙂 Your handwriting design is beautiful as well!
