Almost Free Card Box

I’ve been busy whittling our wedding budget down. This card box is one of my latest money savers. I found the basket at our local thrift shop along with two armfuls of other stuff for $6. I added some ribbon I had stashed in my craft stuff to make it stay open. I cut a piece of cardboard to fit in the lid and wrapped it in some black wrapping paper I bought for Nate’s birthday 2 years ago. I used the chalk marker I got for my kitchen redo project to decorate it to look like chalkboard. It’s a bit shiny, so I may redo it with some chalkboard paint, along with some other upcoming projects.

I lightly drew out my design with pencil before I did the chalk marker, but they are washable, so a wet tissue can erase mistakes.

  1. I did something very similar for ours – such a good way to keep the budget in check!!!
