Back to the country

The Sweetness and I spent the weekend in Denver on a trip I won months ago. It couldn’t have been a better time to go or more needed. We’ve had a rough couple months with me being sick and an even rougher couple weeks recently. We almost broke up a few times. We’ve discussed our issues and understand each other better and some vacation time has us both less on edge.

We left Friday afternoon for the Hyatt Regency and our 2 free nights. Once we got there and settled, we headed out for Sushi. I couldn’t believe the cost of parking, $50 to park at our hotel for the weekend! At least the restaurant had free valet parking. We ate at Sushi Sasa, got our favorites and a token new ‘dare item’. We got lobster tempura,  yellow tail, California rolls and sea urchin. The sea urchin (Uni) was really bad. It had a very delicate texture, but a very fishy taste. The Sweetness even spit his into his napkin. We bedded down and I managed to sleep with medication. I’m in love with their beds. They’ve got pillow tops that I suspect are down, then super soft Egyptian cotton sheet, down pillows and comforter. It’s like sleeping in a big pile of soft.

On Saturday, we slept in and then got some free Starbucks with a gift card I won. We headed out to the Denver Zoo with some free passes I had. It was super hot, but I loved seeing all the animals, especially the Amur leopard cub (they are very endangered, something like 100 left in the wild) and the otters.

We took a break from the 100 degree heat at the hotel before heading to Bubba Gump Shirmp Co for lunch. We decided to walk down the river to the aquarium with more free passes. The aquarium was cool, we touched a stingray and they had really cool exhibits. They even had a tiger and more otters!

We headed home on Sunday, with a quick stop to buy some sod for Hootie’s play yard. We installed it when we got home and are watering it in.
