Frosted Walnut Cookies

These are addictive, so watch out!

1.5 cups packed brown sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

2.5 cups flour

8 oz sour cream

2/3 cup chopped walnuts

1 recipe Browned Butter Frosting

Browned Butter Frosting: Heat and stir 1/2 cup butter in medium saucepan over medium-low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat and stir in 3.5 cups powdered sugar, 5 tsp boiling water and 1.5 tsp vanilla. Beat until easy to spread. Immediately frost cookies. If frosting hardens, stir in a little boiling water.

1. Preheat to 375 degrees and grease cookie sheets.

2. In a large bowl, beat brown sugar and shortening together until smooth. Add baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix until combined. Add eggs and vanilla and stir until combined. Add flour and sour cream alternately until smooth. Stir in nuts.

3. Drop rounded teaspoons of dough 2 inches apart. Bake 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

4. Spread cooled cookies with frosting.

Optional-top with additional chopped walnuts.
