Beer Braised Beef

This is such a good recipe, totally worth the time to make it.


3 Tbsp flour

1 1/2 Tbsp canola oil

1 lb chuck roast

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 cup beef broth

4 garlic cloves

1 12 ounce dark beer

1 bay leaf

3 carrots, sliced diagonally

1 onion, peeled and wedged

1 potato, quartered

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley


1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

2. Dredge beef through flour and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook in oil 10 minutes to brown on all sides.

3. Add broth, garlic, beer and bay leaf and bring to a boil.

4. Put in dutch oven and add vegetables and all other seasonings. Cook for 2 1/2 hours.

5. Optional-Pour cooking liquid into a bag to separate fat. Discard fat. Use juices to top meat and veggies.
