Guinness Ice Cream

This actually came out pretty good!


1 cup milk

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2/3 cup Guinness Stout

2 Tablespoons, plus 2 tsp molasses

4 egg yolks

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla


1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the beer and molasses over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the yolks, sugar and vanilla. Whisk in cream and milk slowly while whisking. Pour the mixture into a medium saucepan and stir in the beer mixture.

3. Cook the custard over medium heat stirring often for 6-8 minutes.

4. Strain the mixture into a bowl and refrigerate 2 hours. Put in ice cream machine and churn according to directions.
