Apparently I have finally lost my mind completely. I’ve thought I’ve lost it a few times in the past, maybe when my cat used to revel in using my bed as his personal litter box, a few times in college and over a few antics of ex-boyfriends, but I think this time I have really gone off the reservation. I spent a good portion of the day today going from thrift store to thrift store looking for the perfect dessert plates for our Christmas table. You see, not any plates will do. I have a diamonds and ice theme and I need something that sparkles, but not in a tacky way. I have the dinner plates; that was easy enough. Clear glass plates and they’re going to look amazing, if I could only find the right compliment in a dessert plate. I can’t decide if a nice porcelain with a silver trim would do it, or a cut crystal or perhaps a green or red glass plate. Regardless, I didn’t find it today at the second-hand stores, so that means that I will be spending another good part of a day looking at Target, Pier One and the like for my perfect plate. You might ask why the plates matter so much. I’d have to quote Martha Stewart to relay why the it’s all in the details, “Did I not ask for MERLOT???”

However, I don’t think Martha would spend 2 days searching for perfect dessert plates. She’d just design them herself and sell them at K-Mart. I do not have such earth rending powers, so I return to my search.
